2017 Hahn Estate Pinot Noir
A welcoming bouquet of bright cherry, black plum and cedar give way to subtle baking spices. On the palate, rich cherry and bright strawberries lead to notes of oak, vanilla and baking spices, finishing with velvety tannins.
Grapes for this wine are estate grown in the Arroyo Seco appellation of Monterey County. A hidden gem, located below the Santa Lucia Highlands, these vineyards sit on a gravelly alluvial plain with rocky soils fostering excellent drainage. Cool winds channeling South from Monterey Bay through the Salinas Valley ensure gradual ripening, full development of vibrant fruit flavors and bright acidity.
Small stainless steel fermenters, gently punched down several times daily to encourage extraction of texture, flavor and aromatics. After a light press and skin removal, this wine aged for 10 months in 100% French oak barrels. The oak regime, 70% new, balance neutral, adds depth and complexity to the finished wine.
