This light-to-medium bodied Grenache is ruby red in color with aromas of blackberry and strawberry jam. The palate has similar fruit notes along with black currant, hints of cinnamon, light Tahitian vanilla, and citrus blossom, coupled with silky tannins, and a persistent, lengthy finish.
Black currant, light vanilla and citrus blossom emerge with notes of red pepper and spice.
100% from Hook Vineyard. The gently sloping hills allow for excellent drainage. Soils are predominantly Chualar loam. Hook experiences morning fog and windy afternoons during most of the growing season.
A perfect spring and early bud break/veraison coupled with the typical
daytime temperatures and accompanying winds has led to another
incredible harvest for Monterey and the Santa Lucia Highlands. The
warmer than normal temperatures of the Pacific Ocean/Monterey Bay
led to warmer night time temps causing slightly lower than normal
acids and earlier ripening.
Food Pairing Notes
Pairs well with bourbon and peach pork sliders, sweet potato fries, or
a juicy lamb burger.
Aged for 14 months in 50% in new and old French oak barrels.
