Deep, bold, brooding and complex, the Hahn Estates Meritage Central Coast 2007 Bordeaux-style blend begins with a rich and full aroma followed by a heightened level of intensity compared to recent vintages. The varietal blend of this vintage is 31% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot, 12% Malbec, and 9% Cabernet Franc.
The generous percentage of Petit Verdot and Malbec in the blend add tantalizing depth to the tannic profile, deepen the color in the glass and enhance richness in the midpalate. When given time, notes of citrus, cardamom and blackberry develop as the wine remains smooth and balanced while simultaneously maintaining the multi-dimensional character for which traditional Meritage blends are known.
Round, juicy, luscious flavors greet brisk tannins and viscous mouthfeel, making this the perfect wine for strong, savory meats and hearty pasta dishes. Try it with barbecued tri-tip steak or slow-cooked brisket served with Swiss chard and white corn.
